Drinking Straws

Drinking straws, and particularly plastic straws, have become universal around the world. Plastic straws have been singled out for bans as a result of environmental problems they pose. They are one of the top contributors to plastic marine waste, with millions of plastic straws being used every day in various parts of the world. There are millions of straws found at the shorelines. For some, straws are necessary, but for many they are a insignificant convenience. Due to the growing environmental concerns and government ban on single-use plastics in many countries, biodegradable alternatives to plastic straws include products from organic materials such as PLA, sugarcane, bamboo, rice, hay, avocado, bamboo and paper. These break down without leaving a trace in a timescale sometimes as short as weeks. Biodegradable straws reduce the threat of ocean trash and ocean life, microplastics at sea and on land, are non-toxic, and help in reduction of carbon footprint.
